What to Expect

How to get started

Find your provider

Tell us where you are, and we'll connect you with a partnered provider near you.

Your provider decides

They'll evaluate whether a compounded medication is right for you and, if so, write your prescription.

We prepare it

We compound your medication from that prescription and send it out — made for you, never sold off a shelf.

Compounded Weight Management FAQs

What are compounded weight management medications?

A compounded weight management medication is one a pharmacy prepares just for you, from the prescription your provider writes — rather than something mass-produced for everyone. Your provider decides whether one is right for you; we're the pharmacy that prepares it.

Do I need a prescription?

Yes — you'll need one from a licensed provider. We can't prepare a compounded medication without it, and we don't sell these direct to patients.

Who can prescribe these medications?

A licensed provider — a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant — who decides whether a compounded medication is right for you. Use our directory to find one who partners with The Chemist Shop.

What states do you serve?

We're licensed in New York (HQ), New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Arizona, and New Hampshire, with more states on the way. Whether a specific medication is available is determined by your provider and applicable state rules.

Are compounded weight management medications FDA-approved?

No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and haven't been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality. They're prepared for one specific patient from a provider's prescription, rather than manufactured for everyone.

Is The Chemist Shop accredited?

Yes — and when it's a medication you're putting in your body, that matters. We're accredited by PCAB and ACHC and certified by LegitScript, a PCCA and APC member, and listed with the LDN Research Trust. Our ACHC accreditation covers sterile compounding (USP <797> and <800>). All of it is verifiable.

What does "patient-specific" mean?

It means we make your medication for you — from your prescription, with your name on the label — instead of producing it in advance for general sale.

How do I get started, and what happens after my provider prescribes?

Start by finding a partnered provider on our Find a Provider page. The clinical conversation happens between you and them. Once they send us your prescription, we prepare your medication and send it your way.
