Fluorouracil inhibits thymidylate synthase, interfering with DNA and RNA synthesis to prevent abnormal cell growth and replication.

Possible side effects include rectal irritation, burning, inflammation, ulceration, or systemic effects if absorbed.

Store in a refrigerator (36-46°F). Do not freeze. If needed, it can be kept at room temperature for up to 24 hours.

Not indicated for use during pregnancy.

May interact with other chemotherapy agents, warfarin, or medications that suppress bone marrow.
